Body Of Missing Man Recovered From River

The shock discovery of a body in the river near Longford Town this morning may end a six-day hunt for a missing local pensioner.

The body - belived to be that of an elderly man - was discovered just before 9am this morning by a passer-by out walking.

It is thought to be that of an 83-year-old man, who has been missing from his home in the town since last Saturday.

Gardai say they are not treating the incident as suspicious.
