Row Over Football Leaves Man Dead

A row over a football has ended in tragedy with a man dead and a woman charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.

David Martin, a local window cleaner, was found dead after a disturbance in Rutter Gardens on Sunday, in Mitcham, southwest London.

Neighbours said an argument over a football started the disturbance.

Kay Scrivener, 41, from Rutter Gardens, will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court later.

Police were called to the cul-de-sac around 7pm and found the man in the front garden of a house. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Scotland Yard said a post-mortem examination is due to take place and formal identification of the man's body will follow.

Four other people were also arrested in connection with the death. A 37-year-old man remains in police custody. A 14-year-old girl and two women, aged 41 and 69, were released on police bail on Monday night pending further inquiries.
