Jail Threat For Youtube Speeder
A teenage driver who admitted to dangerous driving had earlier posted a video on Youtube showing him reaching speeds of up to 130mph.
A jail sentence is now possible for Danny Hyde, 18, of Stowmarket, Suffolk, who was shown with one hand on the steering wheel whilst using his mobile phone to record a journey along the A14 near Ipswich.
Magistrates in Ipswich heard how Hyde was arrested after police received an anonymous email informing them of the clip on YouTube.
Ian Duckworth, mitigating, said Hyde had immediately accepted his guilt and had shown "gross stupidity".
"That was compounded by the fact that he put it (the film) on YouTube," he added.
The two-minute film features Hyde switching between showing the road ahead and the speedometer of his R-registered Astra. Magistrates watched on as Hyde raced past other vehicles that were on the road at the time.
Bench Chairman Anne Parry warned Hyde he could be jailed when he is sentenced on February 21.
