'Osama Bin London' Guilty Of Terror Charges

A Muslim street preacher, self-styled as 'Osama bin London', has been found guilty of running terrorist training camps.

Mohammed Hamid, 50, from east London, was convicted following a four-month trial at Woolwich Crown Court.

During the trial, the court heard how Hamid had trained a number of men, including five of the men involved in the failed July 21 bomb plot in the capital, such as ringleader Muktar Said Ibrahim, to fight abroad at camps in the Lake District and New Forest.

Hamid, also known as 'Osama bin London', was found guilty of three counts of soliciting to murder and three counts of providing terrorism training, but was found not guilty of providing weapons training at camps, as well as two further counts of soliciting to murder and a charge of possessing terrorist articles.

Seven other men were also convicted in connection with Hamid's camps. Atilla Ahmet, 43, was found guilty of soliciting to murder. Kibley Da Costa, 24, Kader Ahmed, 20 and Mohammed Al-Figari, 42, were found guilty of attending terrorist training camps. Da Costa and Al-Figari were also found guilty of holding terrorist articles, while Da Costa was also found guilty of providing training. Hassan Mutegombwa, 20, was also found guilty of seeking cash for terrorism overseas.

Mohammed Kyriacou, 19 and Yassin Mutegombwa, 23, both admitted attending training camps.
