Twenty-Five Injured In M4 Coach Crash

Around 25 people were injured when a coach crashed on the M4 near Newbury on Wednesday evening.

The incident happened around 7pm, when the private hire coach came off the westbound carriageway, between junctions 14 and 15, and plunged around 30ft down an embankment.

The driver was taken to hospital to receive treatment for facial injuries, while a number of passengers received minor injuries, although there were reports that one person suffered a spinal injury.

A 54-year-old man, reported to be the driver, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and has been released on bail until April 23.

Bakers Dolphin, the company which owned the coach, said that police now had the vehicle and that they were co-operating with mechanical checks on it.
