Sussex Teen 'Critical' After Stabbing

A teenage boy is in a critical condition after being stabbed in a "vicious attack" in Crawley, Sussex.

The attack took place around 5pm on Monday in Fitchet Close in Langley Green. The 16-year-old victim is believed to have been stabbed several times in the back and side and was taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, London, by air ambulance. It is understood that he was visiting a friend's house when the attack took place.

Armed police later arrested a 14-year-old boy in Ilfield in connection with the attack.

Detective Chief Inspector Trevor Bowles said: "A teenager suffered serious stab wounds in a vicious attack at a friend's home.

"His condition is critical and we're urgently searching for the knife, which we believe was discarded nearby."

Two Arrested Over Hastings Pier Blaze
As firefighters continue to battle the blaze on Hastings pier in East Sussex, two men have been arrested on suspicion of arson. East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, who spent most of the night trying to control the fire, said around 95% of the Victorian pier has been destroyed. There are no reports of any injuries.

Ex-Bishop and Former Priest Arrested In Abuse Investigation
A former Church of England bishop and a retired priest have been arrested on suspicion of sex abuse. The Right Reverend Peter Ball, a former bishop of Lewes and Gloucester, is being held on suspicion of abusing eight boys and men in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He was arrested at his home near Langport, Somerset.

Police 'delighted' with response to child rape inquiry
Police investigating the rape of an eleven-year-old girl in a supermarket toilet have said that they are "delighted" with the response from the public. Warwickshire Police said that they had received more than 100 calls since posters showing an artist's impression of the attacker were posted around the area where the attack took place.

Police Hunt Gang After 'Vicious Attack' On Two Sutton Coalfield Teenagers
West Midlands Police have appealed for help in tracing a group of teenagers that they want to speak to in connection with a "vicious attack" on two teenagers in May. It is understood that two 17-year-olds were surrounded by the gang on High Street in Sutton Coldfield, with one producing a hammer and another producing a screwdriver.

Teenager charged over Jodi Jones murder
A 15-year-old youth has been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of Jodi Jones in Dalkeith last June. The teenager was arrested this morning by officers from the Lothian and Borders constabulary. The accused is expected to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow.
