M&S Sued Over 'Grape' Fall
A man is suing Marks & Spencer for more than £300,000 after claiming that he injured himself by slipping on a grape during a shopping trip.
Alexander Martin-Sklan, a 55-year-old accountant from Golders Green in Barnet, north London, said that he tore the tendon in his right leg in the incident, which happened in the car park of the Finchley Road branch of M&S.
He claimed to have found a squashed piece of fruit on his shoe after the fall and claimed that this could have been picked up inside the store or in the store's car park. He has also criticized cleaning systems in place at the store at the time of the incident.
Mr Martin-Sklan is claiming loss of earnings, in addition to general damages, claiming that he suffered psychological effects and depression as a result of the injury.
M&S is contesting the claim at the High Court.

Peer Jailed For Expenses Fraund
A peer has been jailed for spending thousands of pounds of taxpayers' money on trips to the Bahamas, India and China. 71-year-old Lord Hanningfield was jailed last year for falsely claiming £28,000 in parliamentary expenses. A City of London Police investigation into the peer's spending at the Essex County Council has just this week been dropped.

Lord Taylor Jailed Over Expenses Fraud
An ex-Tory peer has been jailed for a year over falsely claiming parliamentary expenses. Lord Taylor of Warwick claimed £11,277 for travel between his Oxford home and Westminster and for accommodation costs in London.

Joblessness Falls Again
UK unemployment has fallen for a second consecutive month, however the number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance has increased. The claimant count remains around 450,000 lower than expected last year, and is at 5% compared to 10% in previous recessions. Total unemployment stood at 2.

The News of the World has been granted permission to show a 90-second sex video involving Max Mosley and five prostitutes on its website. Mr Mosley, who is the president of the FIA, was refused an injunction which would have banned the clip.
