Queen Meets Irish President In Belfast

The Queen is making a three-day trip to Northern Ireland, and - as the tenth anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement approaches - the monarch has today met Irish President Mary McAleese, as well as First Minister, Rev Ian Paisley.

The meeting with President McAleese was one of a number of royal engagements on Wednesday, the second day of her visit to the Province.

On Thursday, the Queen will attend the traditional pre-Easter Maundy Service in Armagh Cathedral.

Yesterday, she attended a reception at Hillsborough Castle on the first day of her visit.

The Queen met more than 300 members and workers from the Territorial Army.

The event was to mark the organisation's centenary.
