Inquest Begins On Bridgend Deaths

An inquest has heard that a young man found dead in the Bridgend area took a cocktail of drugs before he committed suicide.

21-year-old Allyn Price had consumed opiates, cocaine and amphetamines when he was found dead in Maesteg last April.

The Bridgend coroner, Philip Walters, recorded a verdict of suicide while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

A total of 17 young people from the South Wales country are thought to have taken their lives since January last year.

In one of the further four inquests being held today the coroner recorded a straight verdict of suicide into the death of 21-year-old Jason Williams, who died in North Comelly last August.

The other three inquests of Leigh Jenkins, 22, from Bridgend, who died in June, Andrew O’Neill, 19, of Nantymoel who hanged himself in September and Gareth Morgan, 27, who was found hanged at his Bridgend home in January this year are still being held.

Police have publicly ruled out suicide pacts among the victims. Suggestions that internet sites like Bebo played a part have also been rejected.
