Two Britons Drown In Goa
The Foreign Office has confirmed that two Britons have drowned off the coast of Goa.
A spokesman said that a man and a woman named Stanley Horne, 70, and Liesel Smith, 37, died on Sunday 6 April at the resort of Morjim, a village in the Pernem district of north Goa.
He added in a statement: "We have informed their next of kin and are providing consular assistance."
It has been reported that Mr Horne was a pensioner and Ms Smith was his carer and they had gone for a swim after a few drinks when Ms Smith got into difficulty, resulting in both drownings.
Mr Horne had been living in Goa for the past four years and Ms Smith was on holiday visiting him.
Their bodies will be flown back to the UK following post mortems.

Child Benefit Cap Under Consideration
The work and pensions secretary has announced he is considering a proposal to cap child-related benefits for families at two children. Iain Duncan Smith said stopping the current system, where families get more benefits the more children they have, was part of changes being considered.

Universal Credit Benefit System Brought Forward
Plans to introduce a new single benefit, which the government claims will simplify the welfare system, have been brought forward by six months. The streamlined Universal Credit, which replaces a range of existing benefits, will be trialled in Tameside, Oldham, Wigan and Warrington from next April.

Prime Minister David Cameron has unveiled plans for credit ratings firms to be used to identify benefits fraudsters. Mr Cameron announced the plans, which are aimed at cutting fraudulent claim amounting to £1.5 billion a year, in a speech in Manchester.
