T5 Not Fully Operational Until June

Ongoing problems at British Airways beleaguered Terminal 5 means that full operations will not be transferred to the terminal until June.

BA had hoped to transfer most of its long-haul flights to T5 by April 30, the move of 60 departures and 60 arrivals a day will now be deferred.

BA Chief Executive Willie Walsh said that the decision was made in "the interests of customers", and that the deferral is "sensible to ensure that Terminal 5 is operating at a high standard before the move begins".

British Airports Authority Chief Executive Colin Matthews said that the plan is "a wise precaution to ensure that passengers can have the maximum confidence once the move does take place".

The £4.3 billion terminal's opening on 27 March has been hampered with delays and lost baggage due to various factors including computer problems and staff parking.
