British Actor In Intensive Care

British sitcom actor Kris Marshall is in intensive care after being hit by a car on a night out in Bristol.

Marshall, 34, from the Cotswolds, is recovering at British Royal Infirmary, it is not believed that his injuries are life threatening. However, his mother spoke to the BBC and said he remains in intensive care and is being treated for head injuries. She also said his condition is improving.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset police said that the collision happened in St Augustine's Parade in Bristol City Centre shortly before 1am on Sunday.

He said that the driver of the VW Polo cooperated fully with police enquiries and was not under the influence of alcohol.

Marshall has won acclaim for his role as Nick in popular sitcom 'My Family' for which he won Best Newcomer at the British Comedy Awards in 2002. He is also well known for appearing in BT adverts.

He is to star in upcoming British horror comedy, 'Hotel Caledonia' which is directed and written by Nicholas David Lean.

World-famous adventurer Sir Ranulph Fiennes is in intensive care today after he collapsed boarding a flight from Bristol on Saturday. He was taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary where surgeons carried out a triple-heart by-pass operation on the explorer. The 59-year-old is now said to be in a critical but stable condition in intensive care.

Man Stable Following House Explosion
A man is in a stable condition in hospital following an explosion at a house in Camelford, Cornwall. The explosion happened at around 11.30pm on Tuesday, 1 September, in the Trecalgo View area. One property was badly damaged in the blast. A 68-year-old man was in the property at the time. He has been taken to Royal Cornwall Hospital for treatment.
