Arsema Mum Accuses Police Of 'Failing To Protect' Daughter

The mother of a teenage girl who killed in a violent attack has slammed police for failing to protect her daughter.

Arsema Dawit, who had just turned 15 on Friday, suffered multiple stab wounds resulting in her death.

The teenager was found badly wounded by a mother and her daughter (aged 8) in a lift at Matheson House, Bayliss Road, Waterloo, on Monday at around 3.45pm.

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said that emergency services were unable to save the young girl.

It is reported that Arsema was stabbed up to ten times.

Scotland Yard had confirmed that Arsema's parents had lodged a complaint on the 30 April about an alleged assault on their daughter at a fast food restaurant. It is also alleged that their daughter's life was threatened.

Arsema's mother Tsehainesh Medhani said she is "devastated" by the death of her daughter.

Ms Medhani said in a statement that she had "lost a precious, beautiful and much-loved daughter who was kind, generous and loving".

Twenty-one-year old Thomas Nugusse, 21, of Ilford, east London, was remanded in custody by Camberwell Green magistrates until August 21 on a murder charge.

The Metropolitan Police Service has referred details of the case to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
