Boy Found Hanged By Grandmother

A young boy has been found hanged at his Lancashire home.

Eight-year-old Joshua Aldred was found unconscious in his bedroom by his grandmother in Lytham on Thursday evening.

He was admitted to Blackpool hospital but was pronounced dead after attempts to resuscitate him failed.

It is understood Joshua's mother and grandfather and recently died from cancer and his family believe it was "a cry for help".

The coroner has been informed and a post mortem is due to take place.

Joshua had attended King Edward And Queen Mary School, Lytham St Annes.

Police family liaison officers are comforting the family who are said to be distraught.

Joshua's father Jason said that his son was a "loving and happy child" who had "missed his mother and spoke of her often".

He added that the family are sure Joshua only expected to injure himself slightly but that it resulted in "the loss of a beautiful boy".
