Saints Footballers Charged With Burglary
Two footballers have been charged with burglary after items were allegedly stolen from a nightclub in Portsmouth.
Bradley Wright-Phillips, 23, and Nathan Dyer, 20 who both play for Southampton Football Club were charged with 'non-dwelling' burglary after answering police bail.
They were charged when they reported to Portsmouth Central police station this morning after previously being arrested and questioned by detectives on March 25.
The two players arrived at the police station in a taxi and were ushered inside through a back entrance by five police officers.
Wearing grey-coloured tracksuit bottoms and white Nike trainers, Dyer pulled a grey hooded top over his head to hide his face from waiting cameramen.
The footballers, both from Briton Street, Southampton were arrested in March after allegations that items were taken from the Bar Bluu nightclub, Southsea, in the early hours of 28 February.
It is reported that during the night when R&B star Kano had been performing, three mobile phones, £145 in cash and cigarettes were among the articles taken from three handbags.
Mr Wright-Phillips and Mr Dyer are due to appear before Portsmouth magistrates on 8 July.
Hampshire Police launched an investigation after two men were filmed on CCTV entering an unlocked staff area.
Southhampton Football Club has declined to comment while the case is being investigated.
Mr Wright-Phillips is the son of former Arsenal and England player Ian Wright.
Young winger Dyer came through the ranks at Southampton and has scored three goals in 61 appearances for the Championship club.
Former Manchester City striker Wright-Phillips has netted 19 times in 87 games since joining Saints two years ago.

Major Police Hunt Launched After Boy Taken From Hospital
A major police hunt has begun after a five-year-old boy with a brain tumour, was taken by his family without consent from Southampton General Hospital. Police said that Ashya King was taken from the hospital by Brett King, 51, and Naghemeh King, 45, on Thursday. It is thought he may have been taken to France.

Kent Police, in partnership with officers from the Metropolitan Police Service, have arrested two men in East London on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. On 3 May, Kent Police began a search for Michael Wheatley, 55, who had failed to return to HMP Standford Hill after being released on temporary licence.

Some 100 riot police have been deployed in central London as protestors take to the streets to demonstrate ahead on the G8 summit being held in Northern Ireland next week. Officers were sent to Soho, where protesters are thought to have occupied a former police station on Beak Street.
