Pair Stand Trial For Man's Death

Two men have appeared in court charged in connection with the death of 31-year-old man.

Bradley Baker died after being found unconscious in Paradise Lane, off Norfolk Street, in King's Lynn, Norfolk on May 6.

Mr Baker died from head injuries in Queen Elizabeth hospital in King's Lynn later that day.

It has been reported that Mr Baker had spent the previous evening at the Chicago Rock Cafe in the town and also visited a takeaway.

Following his death police made immediately made a number of arrests, but just two charges have been made in connection with the incident which they labelled a murder inquiry.

Twenty-five-year old Christopher Noble, 25, of Hall Lane in South Wootton, has been charged with manslaughter at Norwich Crown Court.

John Baldwin, 27 of Fuller Close, Mansfield, Nottingham, stands accused of affray.

Both men have been granted conditional bail and are due before court on 26 August.

Both defendants will enter their pleas in August, ahead of their trial, which is expected to begin in December.

Chard Bodies Identified As Married Couple
Police have made a formal identification of the man and woman found dead in Chard on Sunday. The bodies of 42-year-old Tracey Baker and 35-year-old Kevin Baker were found at their home in Wellings Close on Sunday morning. They were a married couple.

Rent For Road Works Scheme Launched
The Government has announced new powers to help councils cut disrupting road works. Transport Minister Norman Baker said on Thursday that under ‘lane rental’ schemes, councils will be able to charge utility companies up to £2,500 a day to dig up the busiest roads during peak times when road works cause the most disruption.

Carehome Manager Denies Two Murders
A carehome manager has appeared in court today charged with the murders of two elderly residents care home she co-ran with her husband. Registered nurse Rachel Baker, 43, pleaded not guilty to the charges. A third murder charge against Mrs baker, who ran Parkfields Residential Care Home in Butleigh, was dropped due to "insufficient evidence".
