Man Rescued From Trench

Up to 50 firefighters have rescued a man who was stuck up to his waist in clay in a 12ft trench for almost five hours. Emergency services were dispatched to Grange Farm in Shaw, near Newbury, at around 3.30pm on Wednesday. Fire crews shored up the trench to stop it collapsing while they tried to free the 44-year-old labourer, who was given oxygen.
