Two Die In A1 Collision
A man and a young girl have been killed in a road traffic collision in Tyneside. The girl, aged eight, was pronounced dead at the scene on Monday and a 68-year-old man, who was driving the car, died later. Northumbria Police say they were travelling south on the A1, just north of the A696 junction near Gosforth, when the car hit a lorry parked in a lay-by. A section of the southbound A1 was closed for four hours.
Five Hospitalised After Head-On Collision
A two-car head on collision has resulted in five casualties in Powys. Five people suffered serious multiple injuries as a result of the crash on Monday at around 3pm. One of the casualties was airlifted to hospital following the collision between two Ford Focus saloons on the A458 four miles from Welshpool. Four others were admitted to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by ambulance after the incident. The A458 was closed between Welshpool and Cyfronydd while the scene was investigated.
Boy Injured In Hit And Run
A five-year-old boy has been "badly injured" in a hit-and-run motorbike crash on Wearside. Northumbria Police said the boy was riding his pedal bicycle at a junction of Hill Land and Gillas Lane in Houghton-le-Spring when he was struck by a motorcyclist. The youngster was admitted to hospital for a broken shin and calf bone, a fractured left wrist and head cuts. A police spokesman said a motorbike had been recovered and two men are helping police with their inquiries.

Up To Four Suffer 'Life-Changing' Injuries In Troop Carrier Collision
More than 20 people have been injured, 4 or 5 seriously, in a collision involving three troop carriers on Salisbury Plain. Wiltshire Police were called to the accident at about 18:30 on Wednesday. The cause of the accident is being investigated but it is understood that 4 or 5 people have suffered "life-changing injuries".

Investigation Launched After Death Of Woman Following Bus Fall
A woman has died in hospital after falling on a route E3 bus on Chiswick High Road, just after 13:30 on Tuesday, 18 August. The 77-year-old woman was taken to hospital by ambulance, where she was pronounced dead shortly before 17:00.

Second Collision On A55 Expressway
North Wales Police have reported a second collision on the A55 expressway in north Wales, which shut the road completely. A man was fatally injured in a collision involving two HGV lorries and a transit van on Tuesday morning between St Asaph and Abergale.

Unlicensed Minicab Driver Jailed For Killing Passenger
An unlicensed minicab driver has been jailed for eight years for causing the death of a passenger. Matab Uddin, 59, of Blackshots Lane, Essex was found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving and fraud. The court heard how police were called on Sunday, 17 November 2013 at about 1:45am to reports of a man injured on Essex Road.
