Boy Dies After Bike Accident

A nine-year-old boy who was seriously injured after being knocked off his bicycle by a car, has died in hospital.

Wezlee Clark, from Stonehaven, Kincardineshire, Scotland, was taken to hospital on Tuesday night, after he was struck by a Mazda 3 vehicle.

The child was taken by ambulance to the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, where he was treated for serious head injuries.

He was then transferred to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh on Wednesday morning, when his condition deteriorated.

Inspector Scott Mann of Grampian Police’s road policing unit said: “This is an absolutely tragic incident, in particular because Wezlee was so young.

"My thoughts and sympathies are with his family and friends at this sad time. Our enquiries to establish the circumstances of the collision are at a very early stage and will continue over the coming days.

"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."

A 30-year-old female driver who was treated for shock at Kincardine Community Hospital at Stonehaven, has since been released.
