Teenage Army Cadet's Funeral Takes Place

The funeral of a teenage Army cadet, who was murdered outside a youth club, is to take place today.

Joseph Lappin, 16, from Old Swan, died in hospital on October 20, after he was stabbed in the heart outside a youth club in Everton.

He and two friends had been chased by a crowd of up to 15 people and attacked on the steps of Shrewsbury House Youth Club.

His friend Callum Naden, 17, was also stabbed but is recovering from his injuries.

Joseph's family and friends attended St Oswald's Church in Old Swan, Liverpool, for a requiem mass is his honour.

Joseph's parents John and Toni Lappin are expected to lead the mourners at the private service.

Three people were arrested yesterday - two men, aged 23 and 22, from Everton, and a 17-year-old youth from Kirkdale - on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Five people were held on suspicion of the murder and attempted murder, however, they were released on bail last week pending further inquiries.

Joseph, an Army cadet, died in hospital from his injuries on October 20.

A rock climber from the UK has died following an accident on El Capitan in Yosemite National Park in the US. Felix Joseph Kieran (28) from London, was hit by a falling rock as he was climbing the East Buttress on Sunday afternoon.

Body Found During Search For Missing Woman
A body has been found during the search for a missing woman, whose boyfriend is being held on suspicion of her murder. 19-year-old Amelia Arnold disappeared from the home she shared with Jack Wall, 22, and their young daughter in Hadrian's Walk, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, on Wednesday.
