Woman And Two Teens In Court Over Blaze

A woman and two teenagers are due in court today charged with murder, following a fire in Sheffield which killed three men.

Michelle Lamb, 35, of Sheffield and a 14-year-old boy have been charged with murder, attempted murder and wounding, while a 17-year-old boy has been accused of murder and attempted murder.

Trevor Richardson, 37, Kane McTell, 53, and Barry Nicholson, 67, died following the fire in Albert Road, Heeley.

A fourth person remains critical, but stable, in hospital, and his condition is not thought to be life threatening.

The blaze started in the mid-terraced home, and neighbours had reported seeing two people leap through windows to escape, while firefighters with breathing apparatus pulled two others out.

The three accused are due to appear before magistrates in Sheffield on Wednesday.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder
A man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident in Faversham at the weekend. Kent Police confirmed Lincoln Payne, of no fixed abode, had been charged with robbery, theft and two counts of attempted murder following an incident in Fostall Avenue on Saturday, 30 May.

Sheffield Murder Accused Remanded
An 18-year-old man accused of the murder of 16-year-old Jonathan Matondo in last week has been remanded in custody. Negus Nelson, of Margate Drive in the city, appeared before Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Tuesday. An application for bail was refused and Mr Nelson was remanded in custody to appear before Sheffield Crown Court on October 30.

Man Charged With Sheffield Teen's Murder
An 18-year-old man has been charged with the murder of 16-year-old Jonathan Matondo in Sheffield last week. Negus Nelson, of Margate Drive in the city, is due to be appear before Sheffield Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon. Police are continuing to question two other men - aged 18 and 26 - in connection with the teenager's death.

Heroic Tyne Firemen Honoured
Two Tyne and Wear firefighters are to be recognised for their bravery at a special ceremony today. Andrew Nelson and Allan Richardson will be presented with the Chief Fire Officer's Commendations for brave and meritorious conduct after saving a man's life. The men took part in a dramatic rescue in the early hours of 4 February.

Firefighters launch four-day strike
More than 1,000 firefighters across Merseyside have begun a four-day strike in protest over planned job cuts. Another four-day stoppage is scheduled to begin two hours after the first one ends.
