Boy George Jailed For 15 Months

Singer Boy George has been sentenced to 15 months for falsely imprisoning a male escort.

The singer, whose real name is George O'Dowd, was found guilty last month of attacking the Norwegian model Audun Carlsen, 29, when he visited the singer's Shoreditch, east London, flat.

O'Dowd, 46, who claimed Mr Carlsen hacked into his laptop and stole photographs, had denied one count of false kidnap, at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

However, the 47-year-old admitted handcuffing him to a wall in April 2007 but said he did so in order to trace the missing property - having claimed the victim had stolen the photos from his laptop.

After the December guilty verdict, O'Dowd was warned by the judge, David Radford, that he could expect a jail sentence. "This is a case where custody is the more likely option," he said.
