Man Shot During Police Operation
A man is in a 'serious' condition after being shot by police during an operation, Scotland Yard have confirmed.
The man, believed to be in his 20s, was taken to hospital after the incident in north London, just after midnight on Wednesday.
He was shot in the shoulder as officers stopped two cars during a pre-planned operation in Green Lanes in Haringey.
Five men have been detained on suspicion of conspiracy to rob.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Local officers attended and a man was taken to hospital by London Ambulance where he is in a serious condition."
He added: "This was an intelligence-led operation during which five people were arrested at the scene on suspicion of conspiracy to rob.
"The investigation is still ongoing. The [Met's] Directorate of Professional Standards and Independent Police Complaints Commission have both attended the scene overnight and a decision will be made about who will investigate the incident."
It is understood the man who was shot is being treated in hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A 70-year-old man arrested by Surrey Police as part of an investigation into allegations of historical sexual abuse is understood to be former music industry figure, Jonathan King. Officers from Operation Ravine arrested Mr King in London alongside a 77-year-old man and an 86-year-old man.

26-Year-Old Arrested On Suspicion Of Preparing Act Of Terrorism
A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Cornwall by officers from the South East Counter Terrorism Unit (Sectu) on suspicion of preparing for an act of terrorism. Devon and Cornwall Police have said that the arrest operation was "pre-planned" and that the suspect is being held under section five of the Terrorism Act.
