Appeal For Son Of Murder Victim To Come Forward

A murdered London woman's son has appealed for his brother to come forward to help with the investigation.

Detectives have been trying to trace Wehinmi Metsagharun since 61-year-old Rose Jatto was found stabbed to death in her flat in Kenbury Gardens, Camberwell, on Sunday, 4 January this year.

He was last seen getting off a route 104 bus in High Street South, East Ham, on the same night. He had boarded the bus at Stratford bus station.

Augustine Okojie said today the family desperately needed to hear from Wehinmi and appealed for him to contact them and the police.

He said: "We are appealing to him to come forward and let us know where he is and talk to the police. He can't do anything about what has happened, but he can talk to detectives and possibly help us find out what happened to our mother that night, so we can properly lay her to rest.

"It has been a very difficult time for us. We miss our mother dearly and wouldn't wish what we have gone through on anybody.

"It is a horrible experience and one that has left us all in shock. We feel like we've lost two members of the family at the moment. Please let us know where you are Wehinmi."

Mr Okojie also appealed to anyone who might know his brother's whereabouts to come forward.

DI Nathan Eason, of the Met's Homicide and Serious Crime Command, said: "We urgently need to hear from anyone who knows anything about what happened on that night and we particularly need to locate Wehinmi, who was last seen in the East Ham area in January.

"He might well be sleeping rough either in East Ham or around the Victoria area. He is of medium build and 5ft 11 tall.

"If anyone has any knowledge of where he may be please contact us on 020 8721 4906 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. They should not approach him themselves."
