Ex-RBS Boss Sir Fred Goodwin's Home Attacked

Vandals have attacked the Edinburgh home of the former chief executive of Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in an overnight attack.

Windows of Sir Fred Goodwin's villa were smashed and a Mercedes s600 car was damaged during the incident.

It is not known if anyone was in the house at the time, or who reported the vandalism.

Sir Fred is at the centre of a row concerning his £700,000-a-year pension from RBS.

The 50-year-old took early retirement from RBS last year after the bank was given a £20 billion bailout from the government.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm we attended at an address in Morningside around 4.35am today.

"Inquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing. We are appealing for witnesses."

Three smashed ground-floor windows of the stone villa were clearly visible.

A police car is now guarding the entrance to Sir Fred's home, in the Grange area of the city.
