Man Jailed For 10 Years for Raping Two Prostitutes

A man has today been sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment after being convicted of the rape of two prostitutes.

Jakub Luniewski, 26, of Crosby Place, committed the two offences during the early hours of Tuesday, 4 November, 2008.

He was arrested a week later following enquiries by West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, and was today sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment at Leeds Crown Court.

Detective Superintendent Paul Taylor, of West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: "Both victims have displayed great courage, both in coming forward and reporting these offences and throughout proceedings leading to today's sentencing, and I would like to thank them for that.

"Violent crime will not be tolerated anywhere in West Yorkshire and offences of this nature are always taken seriously and investigated thoroughly, regardless of who the victim is.

"We are delighted with today's result."
