Body Confirmed As Missing Man
A body discovered in an outhouse in Ayrshire a fortnight ago has been formally identified as that of missing man Gregg Jackson. The 27-year-old, from West Kilbride, was last seen on 25 June last year. His case was featured on the BBC's Missing programme last month. Police said his relatives had been informed. Forensic examinations were carried out after the body was discovered in a building on New Street, Stevenston on 16 April.
17-Year-Old Dies From Road Crash Injuries
A teenage girl has died days after suffering serious head injuries in a road collision in southern Scotland. Jade Moore, 17, from Holywood, was struck by a car at about 9.30pm last Friday on the A75Dumfries bypass at the Nith Bridge in Lincluden. She was taken to Dumfries Infirmary but was she was subsequently transferred to the Western General in Edinburgh. A police statement confirmed the teenager had now died as a result of her injuries.
Motorists Warned Of Dangers Of Texting At Wheel
The dangers of texting while driving are highlighted in a new hard-hitting THINK! campaign launched today by Road Safety Minister Jim Fitzpatrick after research showed that 30% of young drivers admitted to texting at the wheel. Using a mobile phone at the wheel is considered the second most unacceptable driving behaviour among motorists with 93% agreeing that texting while driving is dangerous. However, 12% of all motorists admit to texting while driving. The new radio advert features a driver's voice spelling out a text message followed by the harrowing sound of a car crash.
Man injured In Car Crash
A 19-year-old man has been badly hurt after his car came off the road in Wester Ross. Police said the crash happened at about 6.30pm on Thursday on the A832 at Corrie Hallie, four miles from Dundonnell. The man was the sole occupant of the Honda Jazz. The section of road was closed for an investigation by Northern Constabulary road policing unit. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

A motorist who hit and killed a teenage cyclist while texting on her mobile phone has been jailed for four years. Kiera Coultas, 25, from Hythe in Hampshire, was also banned from driving for five years, after which she will have to take an extended driving test.

Three people have been arrested in connection to a hit-and-run incident in Leeds in which two children were seriously injured. 2-year-old Rayhaan Saleem and his 10-year-old sister Sabah were knocked down by a car in Brudenell Road, Hyde Park, on Saturday evening. A 36-year-old man was arrested on Monday night.
