Arrests Over Suspected Drugs Offences

Airedale and North Bradford Pro-Active CID arrested two men and a woman on Friday, on suspicion of drugs offences in the City. Two men aged 43 and 35 and a woman aged 31, were all arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs (heroin & crack cocaine) with intent to supply. The 43-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of money laundering and recall to prison. A substantial quantity of what it believed to be class A drugs as well as some cash and drug paraphernalia have been seized. All three were interviewed by officers from the Bradford District Drugs Team and the 35 year old man and 31 year old woman were released on police bail pending further enquiries. The 43-year-old male has been handed back to prison for previous offences.

Two Die In Swollen River

The body of a missing man has been recovered from a swollen river in Ayrshire. Darren Greenan was swept away after he and his partner Laura Frey jumped into the River Garnock at around 2pm on Sunday, to try and rescue their pet dogs. 29-year-old Ms Frey was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, but died overnight. They had been walking with their baby daughter when the tragedy happened. One of the dogs was drowned while another is still missing. Ch Insp Stewart Rorrison, of Strathclyde Police, said an extensive search operation had been in operation involving the police, Strathclyde Fire and Rescue, HM Coastguard and RNLI. He said: "Every agency has had craft in the water from Irvine Harbour to the point where the couple are known to have gone into the water."

Man Questioned Over Body Find

A 24-year-old man has been arrested following the discovery of a man's in a property in Stoke-on-Trent. Police called to an address in Fullwood Walk, Bentilee, on Sunday evening found the body in a first-floor flat. A Staffordshire Police spokeswoman said the death was being treated as suspicious and the flat was cordoned off for forensic testing. A 24-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent has been arrested over the incident. Police urged anyone with information to contact them.

Arrested Follow Gypsy Site Disturbance

Ninteen arrests have been made following a disturbance at a gypsy site in mid Wales. Officers were called to Withy Beds Gypsy Site on the outskirts in Powys yesterday. Travellers from Welshpool and Oxford were arrested for violent disorder. Police stayed at the site overnight. A recovery firm was asked to collect four vehicles from the scene on Sunday. A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Nineteen people have been arrested in the Welshpool area following a disturbance. Police attended the scene and the situation has been resolved."

Two In Court Over Heroin Discovery

Two men are due to appear in court after the discovery of heroin worth about £4,000 in a car in the Borders. It follows an incident on the A7 at Torwoodlee near Galashiels on Sunday at about 4.45pm. The heroin was recovered after officers stopped a car which had been seen overtaking on solid white lines. A police spokesman said a 45-year-old man from Selkirk and a 28-year-old from Edinburgh had been charged with drugs offences and would appear in court.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

National Counter Terrorism Awareness Week Launched
A National Counter Terrorism Awareness Week has been launched in London, with forces from across the UK leading a coordinated effort to help raise awareness. Some 3,000 officers will be involved in helping businesses, including shopping centres, cinemas and sports stadiums, train staff and improve security.

Seven-year-old stabs neighbour
A seven-year-old has stabbed a woman several times following an argument at a neighbours home. The woman had been in an argument with the boy's mother when he stabbed her in the arm, leg and buttock. The victim was treated in hospital for serious, though not life threatening injuries.

Terror attack on London 'inevitable' says Met chief
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir John Stevens has warned that a terrorist attack on London is "inevitable". Speaking at a joint press conference with London Mayor Ken Livingstone in London's City Hall today, Sir John said that security services had trebled their efforts in an attempt to foil a possible attack.
