Unexplained Death In Nottingham

The body of a man was found this morning in a rubbish container at a waste management site in Colwick, Nottingham.

Detectives said the death of the 60-year-old man is being treated as "unexplained". Enquiries are taking place to establish his identity.

The discovery was made before 9pm at the Biffa Waste Management, where the container of waste in which the body was found had been delivered.

At the moment, there is confusion over who delivered the body. A spokesman for Biffa said the container came from commercial properties and that it was brought in by another company. He added that waste destined for the site at Colwick is being diverted to other sites in the area.

The depot was immediately closed when the body was found. Officers said that the area was likely to be cordoned off for most of the day, while their investigations continue.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police dialling 0115 9670 999 and quote incident number 0187-nh-150509 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
