Prison Officers Suspended

Three prison officers at a south-west London jail have been suspended after an investigation into the smuggling of drugs and mobile phones. The men, who work at Wandsworth, were arrested in April. They have since been bailed to appear at a police station. A Prison Service spokesman said: "Three prison officers were suspended from HMP Wandsworth in April pending the outcome of a police investigation."

Cable Worth £20k Stolen

Thieves in the Scottish Borders have made off with copper cable with an estimated value of £20,000. Lothian and Borders Police said the incident had taken place at a building site between 7.30pm on Tuesday and 7.30am on Wednesday. A total of 486 metres of cable was taken from the site at Wooplaw near Galashiels. Police have appealed for anyone who may have been in the area at the time to contact them with information.

Assistant Attacked In Robbery

A robber has assaulted a man and robbed him of personal items at a Smethwick estate agents. Police were called to the Urban City Estates on Waterloo Road, Smethwick at 2.20pm yesterday (Wednesday 27 May) after a man walked into the estate agents and threatened the victim with what appeared to be a handgun. The weapon was not discharged, but the offender punched the man a number of times and then stole his watch and other jewellery. The offender was wearing a hood and a bandana to cover his face. The bandana was black with white flowers, and he also wore a grey padded hooded jacket and grey bottoms. He was black and aged in his mid-20s. The man was also carrying a hammer. The male assistant suffered minor injuries during the incident.

Motorcyclist Dies In Crash

A motorcyclist has died following a road crash on Anglesey, North Wales Police have said. The crash on the A5025 in Llanynghenedl, near Holyhead, involved a collision between a motorcycle and a car on Thursday morning. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene just before 0730 BST but the rider was pronounced dead. The road has been closed while investigators continue their work.

Appeal After Teen Robbery

Police in Bradford are appealing for information about a robbery in Great Horton. It happened on Tuesday, 26th May at 7.45pm on Horton Park Avenue - a 13 year old boy had his mobile phone taken. The suspect is described as a light skinned asian male, 18 years old, approximately 6ft tall of a chubby build. He had a small beard and short, black hair with his fringe brushed forward. He was wearing a distinctive light pink, thin jumper with Dolce and Gabbana carved into the front, dark blue jeans and black trainers. He spoke with a local West Yorkshire accent.

Killer Back Behind Bars
A killer is today back in custody following a dramatic escape during a hospital visit when he escaped from prison guards and threatened security staff during his trip to Perth Royal Infirmary on Tuesday afternoon. George McGeoch was said to have locked two private Reliance security officers in their van.

Baby Snatch Attempt Foiled By Mother
A mother has successfully fought off a man and a woman who attempted to snatch her baby daughter from her pram in Leigh, Greater Manchester. Shortly after 8pm on Sunday 12 August 2007, the 30-year-old mother was pushing a pram with her four-month-old daughter along Wigan Road, close to the Hulme Road junction.

'Skull Cracker' In Custody In London
Kent Police, in partnership with officers from the Metropolitan Police Service, have arrested two men in East London on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. On 3 May, Kent Police began a search for Michael Wheatley, 55, who had failed to return to HMP Standford Hill after being released on temporary licence.

Wanted Man Arrested In London
The man wanted in connection with the murder of a 66-year-old man who intervened during a robbery, has been arrested. Ian John McLoughlin, 55, was arrested in London at around 01:00. He was wanted on suspicion of murder and robbery. Airports and ports had been put on alert as police hinted for McLoughlin.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.
