Fire Crews Tackle Hotel Blaze
Firefighters have fought to control a fire at a derelict seafront Weston-super-Mare hotel.
The fire was reported at the Royal Pier Hotel at 5.41pm on Thursday, and 25 firefighters remain at the scene.
Unconfirmed reports suggest someone may have been trapped inside the building, in Birnbeck Road.
A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson following the blaze.
The man, who comes from the resort, was arrested on Thursday evening, police said.
Officers wearing breathing apparatus have been searching the building.
A spokeswoman for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: "We still have unconfirmed reports that there may have been somebody inside the building.
"Obviously our firefighters have been carrying out a search of the premises but until the fire is fully out we aren't actually able to establish whether there was somebody inside.
"We're hoping to do that later today."
The top half of the roof and top floor of the building has been destroyed, while some seafront roads are closed and nearby flats have been evacuated.
