Two More Soldiers Die In Afghanistan

The military death toll is continuing to rise in Afghanistan, with the news that two further British soliders have been killed.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has confirmed that a soldier from 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment (Duke of Wellington's) and a soldier from 2nd Battalion The Rifles died in an explosion during a routine foot patrol near Sangin in northern Helmand province, on Thursday morning.

The MoD said that patrol was not connected to election security.

Lieutenant Colonel Nick Richardson, spokesperson for Task Force Helmand, said: "It is with deep regret that we report the deaths of two soldiers in Helmand province. Our deepest heartfelt thoughts and sympathies go out to the bereaved family, friends and comrades of these brave soldiers."

The soldiers' families have been informed. No further details have been released.

Soldier Dies In Southern Afghanistan
A British soldier has been killed in an explosion in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has said. The serviceman from the 2nd Battalion the Mercian Regiment was on an operation near Garmsir in Helmand Province, and next of kin have been informed.

British Troops Killed As Death Toll Rises
Two more British soldiers have been killed in separate incidents in southern Afghanistan. In the first incident, a soldier from 4th Battalion The Rifles, was killed in a contact explosion, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced this morning. The soldier was out on a foot patrol near Nad Ali.

The Ministry of Defence has confirmed the death of the British soldier from 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment in Afghanistan on Saturday 11 August 2007. Since the military operation in Afghanistan began, 70 British soldiers have lost their lives.

British Soldiers Killed In Afghanistan
Two British soldiers have been killed in an explosion in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed. The men, from the 2nd Battalion The Mercian Regiment, were taking part in a routine patrol north of Lashkar Gah in the Helmand Province on Wednesday morning when one of their WMIK vehicles was caught in an explosion.

More Troops Killed in Afghanistan
Three British soldiers have died in an explosion while on patrol in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed. These latest deaths bring the total number of British soldiers killed in Afghanistan since operations began to just one short of 200 fatalities.
