Jail For 'Prolific' Manchester Offender

A 22-year-old Manchester man has been jailed for two and a half years for a series of offences.

Aaron Ainsley of Palgrave Avenue, Monsall, committed the majority of his 12 crimes within a three month period, Greater Manchester Police said.

Ainsley pleaded guilty charges including burglary, aggravated taking of a vehicle and dangerous driving.

Most of the offences were committed between January and March 2009 after a number of cars were stolen.

Detective Inspector Mark Hudson from the Volume Crime Team said Ainsley is a "consistent offender" who has "no regard for the people who had been stolen from, or the safety of the public when he got into these cars".

"I am pleased he has today been sentenced for his criminality and hope the local community feel reassured that Greater Manchester Police is committed to ensuring people like Ainsley are put where they belong - behind bars," said Mr Hudson.

In July 2009 Aaron Freeman, 20, of Chimebank, Crumpsall, was sentenced to two years in prison after admitting his part in a number of burglaries, including one with Ainsley.

He pleaded guilty to 10 offences, with a further 15 crimes taken into consideration at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square.

The offences were committed within a three-month period between January and March this year.
