Castledawson family suffer terrifying robbery ordeal
A Co Derry family are recovering today after a gang of armed robbers forced their way into their home and threatened to electrocute them with a stun gun.
The incident occurred at around 10.30pm last night when three masked men forced their way into the house on Main Street in Castledawson.
Local businessman Ronnie Doey, along with his wife and three teenage sons, were tied up during the ordeal and money was demanded.
The assailants then used a stun gun on Mr Doey and threatened to put him into the bath and electrocute him. One of his sons was subsequently put into the bath and threatened with a stun gun.
Local representatives have strongly condemned the robbery - which took place on the eve of Prince Charles's visit to the town.
UUP Mid-Ulster MLA Billy Armstrong said that last night's "brutal attack" was evidence of a "dramatic increase" in robberies on homes and businesses throughout Northern Ireland.
Mr Armstrong also called on the Chief Constable to provide "adequate resources" to preserve the safety of the public.
Anyone with any information has been urged to come forward.

The Belfast Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) has organised the event, which is free and will take place from 10am-1pm in Belfast City Hall. Complimentary tea, coffee and refreshments will also be provided.

Arrests Made At Traffic Collision Following L'Derry Burglary
Police responding to a road traffic collision in L'Derry last night, Wednesday 20 March, arrested two men in connection with an earlier burglary in the area. At 23:55 last night, police received a report of a collision on Gortinure Road involving a black Audi TT. The vehicle was found abandoned in a ditch.
