TV risks 'underestimated' for kids
Too much television viewing is worse for children's health than was previously thought.
According to an analysis of 35 academic studies, TV is being blamed for not only obesity but also short-sight, the onset of premature puberty and autism.
Author of the report Dr Aric Sigman has suggested that young children should be banned from watching TV, and only introduced to watching it in small "judicious" amounts.
On average, in the UK a six-year-old child will have spent more than one full year watching TV.
Dr Sigman said that such viewing patterns were an "abdication of parental responsibility".

Man Slits Own Throat In Woolworths
A man has died after slitting his throat with a Stanley knife in a Woolworths store in Cornwall. The incident happened in the store in Penzance shortly after 3pm on Thursday. The man, believed to be in his twenties, entered the store and began slashing himself with a knife.
