Barbie Toys Recalled In Lead Paint Scare

Seven Barbie playset accessories have been recalled in the UK by manufacturers Mattel due to fears that they may have lead in the paint used.

More than 2,500 toys, which were made in China, are being recalled in what is the third recall of the firm's toys this summer.

The firm has been forced to recall 700,000 toys worldwide over fears that they may have excessive amounts of lead paint.

The affected toys are:
  • Barbie Dream Puppy House Playset - J9485
  • Barbie Dream Kitty Condo - J9486
  • Barbie Table & Chairs Kitchen Playset - K8606
  • Barbie Bathtub & Toilet Bathroom Playset - K8607
  • Barbie Futon & Table Living Room Playset - K8609
  • Barbie Couch & Table Living Room Playset - K8613
All the toys were sold in the UK between October 2006 and August 2007. Anyone who has one of the toys should contact Mattel on: 0808 234 8437.

Last month Mattel were forced to recall 94,000 Fisher-Price toys in the UK and Ireland and two weeks later nearly two million Polly Pocket, Batman and Barbie toys were recalled.

Both recalls were blamed on Chinese manufacturers. The Republic of Ireland is not affected by the latest recall.
