Appeal Follows Belfast Shooting

The PSNI are seeking help from the public after a shooting in the Dunmurry area last night.

Police said the victim was found at about 11.20pm and have appealed for anyone with any information about what happened to come forward.

The man is being treated in hospital after being shot in both legs.

The 26-year-old was found at Whiterise in the Lagmore area of Dunmurry on Tuesday night.

At present, there are no details about his condition, other than that he has been treated in hospital.

Lagan Valley Alliance MLA Trevor Lunn has condemned the incident: "This was a horrendous attack. It is staggering to think that anyone could do this to someone.

"My thoughts are with the victim and I want to wish him a quick recovery from this deeply traumatic attack.

"People don't want violence or intimidation in our society and the sooner that the small minority of people intent on such actions realise this, the better.

"Anyone with information on this attack should contact police immediately so that those involved can be caught," he said.

Meanwhile, the police are also investigating an unconnected arson attack at a car dealership in south Belfast.

It happened in the early hours of Wednesday morning and saw nine cars set alight at the premises on Falcon Road off the Boucher Road at about 1am this morning.

They have not yet commented on whether they have established a motive for what happened.
