Police investigate attempted murder in west Belfast

Police in Belfast are investigating the attempted murder of a 22-year-old Catholic man in the west of the city.

The incident police say, which happened at around 3.15am on Thursday 11th October, is believed to be sectarian.

The man and a friend were walking on the Westlink between Grosvenor Road and Broadway when three men got out of a car and approached them. The victim was struck several times with a hammer and was stabbed in the arm. He suffered a broken cheekbone, needed stitches to the knife wound and multiple wounding. Police are appealing for information about a distinctive white Vauxhall Cavalier car used by the attackers. It had a full body kit; large bore exhaust and a Vauxhall logo over the front windscreen. It sped off in the direction into the loyalist Village area of south Belfast after the attack.

Meanwhile a 23-year-old man was shot several times in the leg in the Fortwilliam Park area of Belfast. A gunman went into a house at around 7.45pm on Thursday evening and shot the man. (AMcE)

PSNI Appeal For Help Tracing Missing Belfast Man
The PSNI have issued an appeal for help in tracing the whereabouts of 31-year-old Conor Bradley. Conor was last seen on Saturday, 29 January. He is described as 6'6", of slim build with ginger hair. He is believed to be in the Belfast area, according to police. Anyone with any information about Conor or his whereabouts is urged to contact police.

Police Appeal After 'Shot Fired' In North Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after reports of a shot being fired in north Belfast. No-one is believed to have been injured in the incident in the Farringdon Court area on Thursday. Police are keen to establish what happened and are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Man Shot In North Belfast
Police have reported that a man has suffered a gunshot wound to the leg in an incident in north Belfast. The 38-year-old man is being treated in hospital after the shooting at Sheridan Street in the New Lodge area. His injuries are understood to not be life-threatening.

Man Shot In Legs In Co Armagh
A man has been shot in both legs in Co Armagh. A group of men forced their way into a house in the Meadowbank area of Craigavon and dragged the victim outside and shot him in both legs. The incident happened on Thursday night. The 26-year-old man has is being treated in hospital. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Intimidation And Criminal Damage
A man has been arrested on suspicion of intimidation and criminal damage. A number of attacks on homes and cars have forced families to leave the Ballysillan area of north Belfast. A 26-year-old man was arrested and he is helping police with their enquiries.
