Three Men To Appear In Court Charged With Robbery And Firearms Offences

Three men are to appear at Downpatrick Magistrates Court later today charged with robbery and firearms offences.

The men, aged 41, 26 and 20 were charged after police seized a shotgun on Castlewellan Road in Newcastle in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A passing police patrol had noticed three men acting suspiciously at around 2am and, after an examination of the area, a shotgun was discovered concealed in a hedge. Three men were subsequently arrested.

The charges are to be reviewed by the PPS.

Police Investigating Man's Death Following Ballynahinch Collision
The PSNI have launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of an elderly man following a collision in Ballynahinch. It it understood that police were called at approximately 4.10pm on Monday 08 April, to reports of the "sudden death"of an elderly man at a quarry in the Newcastle Road area of Seaforde.

Police Attacked By Young People In West Belfast
The PSNI have condemned the assault of four police officers when they were attacked by young people in West Belfast. At around 6:50pm on Saturday, 06 April, police received a report in relation to community concerns that a large group of young people had congregated in Falls Park and that alcohol was being consumed by children.

Police Release Statement On Easter Monday Events In Creggan
The PSNI have released a statement on the events which took place in Creggan on Easter Monday. Derry City & Strabane Area Commander Chief Superintendent Gillian Kearney said that "police received an 11/1 on Saturday 30th March in relation only to an event in the City Cemetery in Creggan" which would be taking place on 1 April.

Three Charged With Drug-Trafficking Offences
Two men and a woman have been charged with drug-trafficking offences. The men, aged 74 and 62, were arrested after police seized cannabis worth an estimated £150,000 at a house on the Donegall Road in Belfast. The woman, aged 64, was detained after officers found drugs worth £100,000 during a follow-up search at a property in Enniskillen.

Two Men Attacked With Baseball Bats In Co Antrim
Two 18-year-old men have been attacked with baseball bats in Whitehead, Co Antrim. The victims were closing premises in the Balmoral Avenue area at around 8.30pm on Tuesday, 04 October when three men assaulted them. Both men were treated in hospital for their injuries. One has been discharged, and the other remains in hospital.
