Firearms Recovered In Connection With Murder Of Kevin McGuigan

Police have recovered two weapons in connection with the murder of ex-IRA prisoner Kevin McGuigan in east Belfast.

Two men, aged 39 and 49, and a woman, 32, have also been arrested.

Mr McGuigan was shot outside his home in the Short Strand area last Wednesday.

The firearms were discovered during searches carried out in the Greater Belfast area on Tuesday.

Three other men, aged 41, 44 and 53 remain in police custody.

Six Arrested In Dissident Investigation
Six people have been arrested by detectives investigating dissident republican activity. The arrests were made on Tuesday in the Dunmurry and west Belfast area following a number of searches. Police said five men, aged between 31 and 58, and a 32-year-old woman had been arrested.

Mr McGuigan, 53, was shot in the Comber Court area of the Short Strand just before 9pm on Wednesday evening. He was taken to hospital, however, he was pronounced dead a short time later. It is believed he was well known in republican circles.

Three Arrested In Connection With Murder Of Kevin McGuigan
Three men have been arrested in connection with the murder of Kevin McGuigan. Mr McGuigan, 53, was shot dead by two masked men outside his home in the Short Strand area just before 9pm on Wednesday 12 August. He was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital but died a short time later. It is believed he was well known in republican circles.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Man's Body Found In Co Antrim
A 36-year-old man has been arrested after a man's body was found in Co Antrim. His body was discovered on Townhill Road at around 10am on Sunday, 22 October. A post-mortem is to be carried out and his death is being treated as suspicious. Sinn Féin MLA Philip McGuigan said: "The local community has been left in shock by this news.
