Woman Dies In South Belfast House Fire

A woman has died following a house fire in south Belfast.

The incident happened at a property in the Archdale Drive area of Belvoir Estate at around 3pm on Sunday.

The woman, believed to be aged in her 50s, was found dead in the property and a post mortem examination is to be carried out.

Alliance South Belfast Councillor Paula Bradshaw said: "My thoughts and condolences are with the family, friends and neighbours of this poor woman who tragically died. The local community will be in shock and saddened at this news.

"I would like to praise the efforts of the fire service in their attempts to deal with this fire and save the life of this woman. I would also encourage anyone with information on this fire to contact the authorities so the cause can be determined."

BCC Welcomes Conviction Of Belfast Man For Dog Attack
Belfast City Council (BCC) has welcomed the conviction of a man at Belfast Magistrates Court for an offence involving a dog attack on a woman. BCC brought the prosecution against 43-year-old Stuart Grace, of Forthriver Crescent, Belfast, following a report that Mr Grace’s German Shepherd dog had attacked a woman, injuring her arm and back.

Belfast Man Handed Two-Year Stalking Protection Order
The PSNI have welcomed a two-year Stalking Protection Order (SPO) handed down to a 46-year-old Belfast man at Belfast Magistrates Court. The man had been found guilty of stalking and harassing his 50-year-old female ex-partner.
