Flat Damaged In Arson Attack In Co Tyrone

A flat in Co Tyrone has been damaged in an arson attack.

The empty property was gutted by the blaze in Lisnafin Park in Strabane at around 5.15am on Sunday, 15 October.

Nearby properties had to be evacuated.

The PSNI are treating it as a hate crime.

Delivery Driver's Car Set On Fire In Co Down
Police have launched an investigation after a delivery driver's car was set on fire while he was sitting in the vehicle in Co Down. The man, aged in his 40s, was delivering food to a house in Fairfield Place in Newtownards when the attack happened at around 10.45pm on Tuesday, 06 February.

G8 Resort Was Dissident Bomb Target
An attempted bomb attack in Fermanagh was intended to target the hotel where the G8 summit will be held at Lough Erne in June, according to Óglaigh na hÉireann. The dissident republican group made the claim in a statement to UTV. It follows the discovery of a 60kg device in a car in the Derrylin Road area of Fermanagh at the weekend.

NI Property Prices Increase
Residential property prices in Northern Ireland increased for first time since 2007, according to a new report. The Northern Ireland Residential Property Price Index report for the second quarter of 2013 showed that between quarter one and quarter two, residential property prices increased by 2%.

Belfast consultancy Lisney has been named as the leading commercial property agency in Northern Ireland by the online version of leading property journal Estates Gazette. Lisney came out on top in Northern Ireland in the EGi Deals competition, which seeks to find the most active commercial property agents in the UK.

County Tyrone Farmer Fined Over Pollution Offences
A County Tyrone farmer has pleaded guilty and been fined £1,000, plus £15 offenders levy at Dungannon Magistrates Court for making a polluting discharge to a waterway. William Potter, Annaghquin Road, Cookstown, Co Tyrone, was fined for the offences on Friday.

Mother Appeals For News Of Missing Tyrone Man
After 12 harrowing months, the mother of a missing Tyrone man has reiterated her offer of a £100,000 reward to anyone who helps find him - or his dead body. Gerard Conway, 32, was last seen in Cookstown in February 2007. Despite a number of searches and reported sightings in the Republic, Mr Conway, who has bi-polar disorder, has not been found.

Police investigate ‘suspicious’ death in Strabane
Police in Strabane are investigating the suspicious death of a 43-year-old woman in the town. The body of the woman was discovered in a house in the Churchview area of Strabane, County Tyrone last night. It is understood a man is currently assisting police with their enquiries. There are no further details at present.

County Tyrone man convicted of benefit fraud
A County Tyrone man has been convicted of benefit fraud. John Finlay, 52, of Seein Road, Sion Mills , appeared at Omagh Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with obtaining benefits to which he was not entitled. Mr Finlay was fined £300 for claiming Job Seeker’s Allowance to the value of £5,094 while failing to disclose his savings.

South Tyrone homes to get fresh water supply
A new project to help connect the water supply to 25 homes in the South Tyrone area has been launched. The scheme will address the issue of unconnected rural properties by targeting support to 25 local homes, in a bid to increase the overall ‘fitness of habitation’ for housing in the Dungannon area.

Tyrone doctor to stand for West Tyrone seat
The Tyrone doctor who topped the poll during the 2003 West Tyrone Assembly elections has confirmed that he is to stand in this year’s general election. Dr Kieran Deeny declared his intention in Omagh on Monday, saying he wanted to fight for better health services following the Government’s decision to remove acute hospital services from Tyrone.

Proposals to reform hospital services in Northern Ireland have met with a mixed response from local politicians. Published by Health Minister Bairbre de Brún, the document contains a hotly contested proposal to locate a new acute hospital in Enniskillen, while closing the current acute facilities in Omagh.
