Derry man shot during robbery

A man has been shot in the leg during an attempted robbery on the outskirts of Londonderry on Monday.

At about 9am the man was working at a motor dealer’s yard at Coney Road, off the Culmore Road, when an armed man confronted him and demanded money.

When the worker refused, he was shot. The victim was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery, however his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
