Two New Belfast Harbour Commissioners Appointed

Two city councillors have been appointed to the Belfast Harbour Commissioners.

Belfast City Council's Patrick Convery and Danny Lavery will replace predecessors incumbent Lord Mayor Tom Hartley and councillor Alban Maginness.

Regional Development Minister, Conor Murphy, has welcomed the appointments.

The Minister said: "The appointment of Councillor Convery and Councillor Lavery, who join Belfast City Councillors David Browne and David Rodway on the Board of Belfast Harbour Commissioners, allows the electorate of Belfast to continue to have an important voice on the board of the Harbour Commissioners."

"I wish to thank the outgoing members, Councillors Tom Hartley and Alban Maginness, who both made a valuable contribution to the work of the board and I wish them well for the future," added Mr Murphy.

Belfast Harbour Commissioners are responsible for the improvement, maintenance and management of the Port of Belfast and for the facilities within it.

Board members currently receive remuneration of £9,945 per annum.
