NI goalkeeper set to join Manchester United
Northern Ireland international goalkeeper Roy Carroll is set to join Manchester United from Wigan Athletic for a fee of around £2.5 million.
Carroll has already had two dream moves to a Premiership club falter this summer after Leicester and Everton both pulled out of deals for differing reasons.
Although he would have preferred to join either club, thus virtually securing him the coveted No.1 goalkeeping jersey, he was persuaded to move to Manchester United after Sir Alex Ferguson assured him a chance of first-team football.
Carroll is likely to play understudy to seasoned French international Fabien Barthez, however he may have to wait until the Reds return from their Far East tour at the beginning of next week before officially moving to Old Trafford.
It is understood Carroll has spoken to United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and agreed personal terms.
Twenty three year old Carroll has not gone on Wigan's pre-season tour of Scotland and is due to have a medical at United in the next few days. (MB)

63-Year-Old Woman Arrested Over Stabbing In Antrim
A 63-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident in Antrim on Friday, 26 January. Shortly after 5.10am police received a report that a man, aged in his 40s, had been stabbed at a property in the Firmount Drive area of the town. He was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment to stab wounds to his upper body area.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in Rostrevor on Sunday, 31 March. At around 9pm, police received a report that man, aged in his 20s, had received serious head injuries after he fell to the ground following an altercation at a licensed premises in the Bridge Street area.
