Arrest Warrant Out For Teenage Rapist

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a convicted rapist who has breached the conditions of his probation.

Edward Connors was 15 when he twice raped an American tourist in the Colin Glen Forest in west Belfast, four years ago, and he was given an eight year jail sentence.

He was due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Monday morning charged with failing to "complete an individual programme of work to address his sexual offending," but he did not turn up.

County Fermanagh Man Popped 20 Ecstasy Tablets A Day

A 27-year-old from Lisnaskea has admitted regularly using 20 Ecstasy tablets in a day.

Kevin Joseph McElroy of Main Street pleaded guilty at Fermanagh Court to possession of the drug.

The prosecutor said Mr McElroy had drug and alcohol dependencies and the tablets were found on him by chance.

Northern Irish Structures Commended At National Awards

Derry/Londonderry's Peace Bridge has won a national steel design award.

And Rise, the 37.5-metre sculpture on the Belfast's Broadway roundabout, was highly commended at the national Structural Steel Design Awards in London.

Other structures that were recognised at the awards were the main Olympic Stadium, the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the new footbridge at MediaCity UK, in Salford.

22-Year-Old Man Jailed For Rape At Laganside Crown Court
A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to six years for rape at Laganside Crown Court. Ahmad Alsbaihi was sentenced to six years. He will serve three years in custody and three years on licence. He will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register and will be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) for 10 years.

SDLP Criticise SF And Alliance For Backing DUP Amendment The SDLP have accused Sinn Féin and the Alliance Party of allowing the DUP to "delay action on poverty". Leader of the Opposition Matthew O'Toole made the accusation, after the Executive parties backed a DUP amendment to the SDLP's Opposition Day proposal to remove the two-child limit.

NI entrants top National Training Awards
Twenty Northern Ireland entrants in this year’s National Training Awards competition have won prizes for excellence. During a ceremony at Belfast City Hall yesterday evening, a total of 30 National and Regional Awards were presented to employers, individuals, partnerships and training organisations.

Man And Woman Jailed For 'Brutal And Senseless Attack'
The PSNI have welcomed the sentencing of two people at Laganside Crown Court for a range of offences including grievous bodily harm with intent, threats to kill, common assault and possession of an offensive weapon. 26-year-old Dylan Black, from the Lisburn area, was sentenced to seven years in prison. He will serve three years on license.
