Belfast Grand Central Station Shortlisted For Three Prestigious National Awards
Belfast Grand Central Station, a pivotal new transport hub for Northern Ireland, has achieved significant recognition by being shortlisted for three prestigious accolades at the National Federation of Builders' Construction Awards of Excellence 2025.
The landmark project, constructed by the Farrans Sacyr Joint Venture for Translink, is vying for honours in categories including 'Excellence in Sustainable Construction' and 'Health, Safety and Wellbeing Excellence'.
In a notable achievement, the Farrans Sacyr Joint Venture has been recognised as the sole shortlisted finalist for Belfast Grand Central Station in the highly specialised 'Inspiring Infrastructure Project' category. This unique shortlisting reflects the project's outstanding contribution, as the category received no other qualifying submissions this year.
Opened in September 2024, Belfast Grand Central Station stands as the largest fully integrated transport hub on the island of Ireland. Designed to accommodate 20 million passenger journeys annually, the station is already demonstrating a significant impact by encouraging increased public transport usage, thereby contributing to reduced air pollution and fostering a cleaner, greener city and region.
Representatives from Farrans Sacyr are looking forward to attending the Construction Awards of Excellence ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 6 November 2025, at the Burlington Hotel in Birmingham.
