New Timelapse Video Of Major Works At Belfast Grand Central Station

The principal contractors behind the Belfast Grand Central Station project, Farrans Sacyr Joint Venture (JV), have successfully concluded extensive construction works on Durham Street and Boyne Bridge Place.

The completion of these major works has been achieved just in time for the city's busy festive period.

The client, Translink, officially reopened the road to the public at 8am on Saturday, 29th November 2025. The revamped thoroughfare now provides convenient access for all users, having been re-graded and enhanced with new features designed to improve connectivity and safety around the new transport hub.

Key improvements to the area include:

- Convenient drop-off and pick-up provisions for passengers.

- New pedestrian crossings for safe, direct, and level access to the station, as well as the surrounding communities and local businesses.

- Comprehensive public realm and utility improvement works.

- A road design that carefully balances the needs and safety of pedestrians, active travel users, and vehicular traffic.

- Installation of new signage to significantly aid wayfinding in the vicinity.

The Farrans Sacyr JV has also released a video showcasing a timelapse of the works completed on the route, highlighting the rapid transformation of the area.
