Amazon To Create 1,000 Seasonal Jobs

More than 1,000 seasonal jobs are to be created by Amazon, it has been announced.

The online retailer has said the roles will be at its distribution centre in Swansea to help cope with increased demand in the run up to the festive period. In total, the firm is hiring 13,000 seasonal staff across its eight distribution centres and customer service centre, which is based in Edinburgh.

The announcement comes a week after the retailer said it was creating 1,000 permanent jobs across its UK operations.

One thousand new jobs are to be created at Amazon's distribution centres across the UK, the internet retailer has announced. The jobs are to be created in the coming months across the firm's eight distribution and customer service centres. The company said that it could not yet provide a regional breakdown of where the new jobs will be created.

French Firm To Create 1,000 New Jobs In Scotland
Up to 1,000 new jobs are to be created in Scotland by Paris-based contact centre, Teleperformance, increasing its Scottish workforce to around 4,000. The customer service advisors, trainers and team manager jobs will be created in Airdrie, Erskine, Glasgow and Kilmarnock.

Sussex Police To Cut 1,000 Jobs
Sussex Police are to cut 1,000 jobs over the next five years. According to reports, the force will reduce its officers by 500 as part of a plan to save £56 million by 2020. It is understood almost 200 police staff jobs will also be cut, with another 300 posts to be cut elsewhere in the force.

Hewlett-Packard to cut nearly 1,000 jobs
Hewlett-Packard has announced plans to axe nearly 1,000 jobs in the UK over the next year, as part of a worldwide restructuring plan. The US computer firm is expected to cut 968 jobs at five British sites in Bracknell, Bristol, Glasgow, Reading and Warrington, as part of plans to cut 5,900 jobs worldwide.

Royal Mail To Create 1,000 Jobs
1,000 jobs will be created at the Royal Mail over the next four years as the company invests £75m in its parcel business. The programme will see a new parcel processing centre open in Chorley in autumn 2013. Two new depots are to open in Cornwall and Hampshire and nine existing depots are to be expanded or relocated over the next four years.
