Elderly pensioner held down during burglary

A 91-year-old woman who suffers from hearing and sight difficulties has been held down by robbers after they broke into her Belfast home last night.

The woman was at the back of her Lisburn Road home when four masked men broke in through a rear window at around 10pm.

They threatened the woman before holding her down and putting a hand over her mouth.

The men then ransacked the house before making off with a small sum of money and benefit book.

The woman was left shocked but uninjured in the incident.

SDLP assembly member Carmel Hanna condemned the attack describing it as "despicable".

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
